Informal Science & Conservation Education

I am interested in partnerships between scientists, informal science centers such as zoos and museums, and on-the-ground conservation organizations.  Growing up in Chicago, my early interest in wildlife was nourished not by formal math and science classes, but by hours spent watching animals at the Lincoln Park Zoo. Conducting research at zoos in the US and Europe showed me that zoos have the potential to act as world-class research centers, critical partners in conservation efforts, and hubs for science and conservation education.

In 2014-2015, I am a Fellow in Science Communication through NSF's "Portal to the Public" program at the Detroit Zoo.  Stay tuned for more!
